Staff, parents and children at Pathways, Holly Lane Day Nursery in Balsall Common were celebrating recognition of the quality of provision, by Ofsted inspectors. The setting was judged as ‘Outstanding’ in leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for children. The report stated that children were happy and demonstrated ‘high levels of confidence in their learning and communication skills’. Inspectors praised the staff for a welcoming environment and for meeting individual needs exceptionally well. It was noted that ‘the management team is extremely enthusiastic and passionate about providing the highest-quality care and learning for all children. Managers have expert knowledge and experience in helping young children learn and make the best possible progress. The provider and managers pass on this knowledge and passion to all staff, and develop their practice to the highest levels’. Caroline Jones, a former local teacher stated, ‘I am very proud of the staff and children. We will continue to work with parents to maintain and further improve our provision’.
